Time to Glow Up!

Built in 1860, the historic two storey hotel looks much the same on the outside with her recognisable heritage brown façade unchanged. With the intention of preserving her exterior, the hotel has been given a much needed (and much deserved) remodelling on the inside.

The hotel’s white interior walls contrast with both old and new wooden floors and exposed ceiling and is filled with pops of moody blues and subtle touches of the industrial.

Intent on keeping the hotel’s history alive, enchanting features like etched windows were repaired rather than replaced and where possible, existing materials have been salvaged and upcycled to create stunning bar tops and pieces of furniture featured in our venue today.

The updated interior uses soft lighting, dark leather and linen tablecloths to create a sense of homely comfort.

Located in the heart of Mount Gambier, the delightfully old and charming South Australian Hotel, has re-opened to the public following completion of a 12-month long reno to modernise her interior.

Delivering an elevated dining experience, the South Australian offers table-side service in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Our drinks menu showcases a wide selection of local and Australian wine, beers and cocktails and a chef-curated à la carte menu focusing on fresh, delicious ingredients.

The South Australian is a familiar and historically unique building, with a long-standing reputation of being a special setting to spend time with family and friends.
